New Grove Towers In Mumbai Will Clean City’s Air
An ambitious project in Mumbai that comprises two large sustainable
mixed-use residential towers has been taken on by Danish architectural
firm, 3XN. The amazing concept features an attractive intertwined design
that is reminiscent of entangled trees, which is a big hint as to the
towers’ function.
The Grove Towers will act like trees due to the abundant vertical gardens within these towers, which will clean Mumbai’s air. The project includes retail areas in the lower floors, which give way to mixed-use spaces before the towers rise and narrow into residential apartments. The towers have a total of 273 apartments, each with at least two different views, most of which look to the north and west.
The lower floors join together in a way, which gives the appearance of intertwining roots of the mangrove trees native to the general area. Both towers are 136 meters high and contain a total of 77,000 sq m floorspace spread over 38 stories. The unique towers will sport a novel facade that’s said to reduce direct solar heat gain while maximizing natural ventilation.
The lower sections of the towers will contain over 2,500 sq m of vertical gardens, which are aimed to lower the local CO2 levels in Mumbai and clean the air around the tower. 3XN is hoping to receive the LEED Gold standard of energy certification once the project is completed in 2017.

Saudis are up to it again; they just can’t stop surprising us all,
can they? So what is this all about now? Alright, buckle up; World’s
tallest building title will be challenged by this building that is all
set for construction starting this week in Saudi Arabia.
After
the construction is complete, the Kingdom Tower will stand tall with a
height of 1 km and for comparison’s sake; it is four times taller than
The Shard and about 500 feet taller than the current title holder; Burj
Khalifa in Dubai.
The
Kingdom Tower will be built in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and the estimated
time of completion for the project is 5 years with a budget of £780m.
The material estimates for the project; 0.5 million cubic meters of
concrete and about 80,000 tons of steel. Once finished the tower will
occupy an area of above 500,000 square meters and will consist of about
200 floors. As per plan, the tower is supposed to have 59 elevators,
where five of the elevators will be double deckers. The elevators that
will take the visitors to observatory shall travel at a speed of 10
meters per second. The Kingdom Tower is part and the centre piece of
Kingdom City Development situated at the north of Jeddah, overlooking
the Red Sea, with a total budget of £13bn.
This
city will cover an area of more than 5.3 million square meters. The
development will constitute housing, commercial property, offices,
hotels, shops, educational and commercial centers.
According
to CEO of Jeddah Economic Company, Waleed Abdul Jaleel Batterjee, ;
‘The vision of constructing the tallest tower in the world in Jeddah
belongs to HRH Prince Al Waleed bin Talal. His vision is also that the
project itself will set the world’s sights on our beloved Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia and particularly on Jeddah. Furthermore, the project will
help create hundreds of jobs for our Saudi countrymen.

Stunning Masjid Illuminated With All Colors Of Rainbow
The Nasir al-Mulk Masjid or Pink Masjid is a traditional masjid in Shiraz,
Iran. When someone brings up historical architecture, we picture beautiful
arches, towering spires, sculptures and stone walls, but most of us probably
don’t think of bright and vibrant colors. Nasir al-Molk Masjid, as illustrated
by these photographs, is a striking and strong exception to the idea that
historical structures might have been somewhat lacking in colors. Not only are
its stained-glass windows richly colored, but its walls feature a beautiful and
vibrantly colorful array of painted geometric tiles.
